I like the yarn in your sweater - what brand / type is it? I'm a member of the 1st Sock KAL too - I finished the first sock of my first pair, except for grafting the toe, last night and cast on for the second sock this afternoon. I've been knitting for about 53 years.
I'm planning on wearing this sweater however if it turns out to be huge the pattern called for 27 inches long before I bound off for the armholes. That would make it mid-thigh on me! So I stopped at about 17". If it turns out to be weird once i start putting it together, I can alwaysadd to it. ------- or not.

This yarn is Lion Brand Wool-Ease, Hunter Green Sprinkles 131. I bought it probably 5 years ago.
Very pretty, Jeannie. Is this sweater for yourself?
